The Kaneohe Bay Creeper

The Kaneohe Bay Creeper is designed to imitate a crab, featuring a wide body and legs that closely resemble those of a natural crab. This fly was designed by Joe Marks, a combat veteran, husband, and father. Joe is one of Hawaii’s most proficient fly tiers and fishermen.

The Kaneohe Bay Creeper comes in multiple colors and features several distinct characteristics that give it a realistic appearance.

Two feathers extend from the fly’s plastic eyes, while rabbit fur gives the body a fuller, more natural appearance. When submerged, the rabbit fur absorbs water and expands, creating the illusion of a larger, more lifelike body.

The fly has caught bonefish, golden trevally, permit, and other predatory fish around the world.

These flies are most effective in calm water. When resting on the bottom, the Kaneohe Bay Creeper is designed to imitate a crab slowly creeping along the ocean floor.

You can also leave the fly resting motionless on the bottom and allow the fish to discover and take it naturally.

The combination of its wide body, lifelike legs, realistic eyes, and flowing rabbit fur makes the Kaneohe Bay Creeper an effective crab imitation for fishing Hawaii’s flats.
